Filmonomics Plus aims to take 8-10 UK film producers who have 1-4 feature producing credits (docs or fiction) who seek a booster programme that builds on other relevant and/or recent training and on-the-ground experience to increase the scope of their business in this challenging marketplace.

The focus of this new programme will be on individual needs, assessed with the candidate, offering a blend of bespoke coaching, mentoring (from people within film or in other creative industries dependent on the needs of the candidate), plus tailored financial and business planning and leadership guidance across a short window of 4 months.

This programme was designed to fill an essential gap in the market, and is run by Mia Bays, with the help of film finance and business affairs experts, and professional coaches.

Mia Bays

Mia Bays is an Oscar-winning, twice BAFTA nominated, producer on documentary and fiction. She has worked on over 50 features in various capacities, as a distributor, producer, writer (most recent credits are LETTERS FROM BAGHDAD, voiced by Tilda Swinton, released by Verve in 2017), and has held such roles as Creative Producer on the Microwave micro-budget scheme 2007-14 (LILTING, SHIFTY, ILL MANORS, STRAWBERRY FIELDS, etc). She is passionate about raising the volume of the female voice across the film value chain. She began her career in the film industry, in distribution, in the early ’90s, working for Romaine Hart, a successful female distributor and exhibitor – and her first role model.

With over seven years experience in Producing, ranging from corporate, commercials to features, Joy has worked with a variety of budgets, producing work that is both exceptional and that pushes boundaries.

Julia Ton

Julia is founder of Project 161 production company. Celebrating filmmakers from different parts of Europe, Project 1961 aims to bring interesting films to the inter- national market where different cultures meet in the middle.

Martin Gentles

In 2010, along with his friend Ed King, Martin set up the feature film company Starchild Pictures, and became a producer. His feature credits include THE LIABILITY and HOWL.

Nisha Parti

Nisha Parti is a producer whose first feature Honour was released in the UK in March 2014 and starred Aiysha Hart and Paddy Considine.

Paul Sng

As a filmmaker, he is interested in telling the stories of those neglected, misrepresented or forgotten by mainstream media. His debut feature, Sleaford Mods – Invisible Britain, was conceived in November 2014 and crowdfunded via Indiegogo in March 2015 – 7 months later it was screened in cinemas around the UK.

Uzma Hasan

Uzma is co-founder and producer at venture capitalist backed Little House Productions. Her latest feature Nirpal Bhogal’s FIRSTBORN premiered at Edinburgh International Film Festival 2016. Her first feature THE INFIDEL was released internationally to commercial and critical acclaim.

Wendy Griffin

Wendy has worked for many years as a line producer working on films such as Red Road, Donkeys, Festival and Outcast, and various television.
