EIFF x RECLAIM THE FRAME UK PREMIERE OF ZUHAL

EIFF x RECLAIM THE FRAME UK PREMIERE OF ZUHAL

We’re thrilled to be part of the 75th Edinburgh International Film Festival, collaborating on the UK Premiere of our latest #ReclaimTheFrame x International title: ZUHAL, co-written by Nazli Elif Durlu and Ziya Demirel and directed by Nazli Elif Durlu.

Zuhal, a successful lawyer living in a central neighborhood of İstanbul, begins to hear the sound of a cat meowing in her apartment. Embarking on a desperate quest around her building to find the source of the sound that keeps her awake at night, Zuhal knocks on the doors of her neighbours with whom she had no prior contact. Getting more absurd with time, the search for the elusive cat will be the beginning of a new awakening for Zuhal, who seeks her own truth.

A striking black comedy about a modern city dweller.

We’re delighted to be joined by Istanbul-based filmmaker Nazlı Elif Durlu for a post-screening discussion as part of #EIFF22 on Tuesday 16 August at 20:20 Filmhouse Cinema 2

Come along to Filmhouse and join the discussion to meet Birds’ Eye View team members Melanie Iredale (Director), Xuanlin Tham (Impact Producer) and Charlotte Little (Access & Inclusion Manager), to find out more about #ReclaimTheFrame across the UK and how you can become an Advocate

Zuhal will be presented with descriptive subtitles.  Both introduction and post-screening discussion will be live captioned.

This event forms part of Reclaim the Frame x International – a project which aims to support culturally diverse women & non-binary filmmakers from 5+ countries through the circulation of works, collaboration and a professional development programme. Led by a consortia of women’s film festivals from around the world with a shared mission to increase gender diversity and inclusion in cinema, including including Flying Broom International Women’s Film Festival in Turkey, and funded by British Council’s International Collaboration Grant.
