My Name is Andrea + Q&A

Genesis Cinema, London / Pratibha Parmar

Presented as part of Raindance Film Festival 2022 in collaboration with Birds Eye View

The seventeenth documentary from British filmmaker Pratibha Parmar, My Name Is Andrea introduces us to one of the most literary controversial figures of the 20th century, Andrea Dworkin, best known for her work criticising pornography, sexism and the patriarchy, nearly three decades before the #MeToo movement began.

My Name Is Andrea focuses not only on Dworkin’s revolutionary campaign work that became the bedrock for future movements, but also on the challenges and betrayals she faced through her unapologetic career.

Narrated entirely through Dworkin’s spoken or written words and portrayed at different parts of her life by a group of actresses, Parmar’s intimate feature showcases the determination and perseverance of one of feminism’s most notorious figures.

Starring Ashley Judd, Soko, Amandla Stenberg, Andrea Riseborough, Allen Leech, Christine Lahti.
Written and directed by Pratibha Parmar, Based On The Writings Of Andrea Dworkin and produced by  Shaheen Haq
Following the film Pratibha Parmar will join Birds Eye View director Melanie Iredale for a post-screening conversation.
