We’re thrilled to be joined by Swedish artist and filmmaker Maja Borg in Folkestone this year. Known for FUTURE MY LOVE (EIFF + Hot Docs, 2012), and having been originally invited to present PASSION (CPH Dox + BFI Flare, 2021), which we’re sadly unable to secure an 18 certificate to screen.

Maja has been working at the intersection between documentary, fiction and experimental cinema since 2005, pushing the boundaries of non-fiction. This session will involve a rare opportunity to watch Maja’s earlier short films MAN (2016) and WE THE OTHERS (2014) followed by a conversation between Maja, writer, curator and organiser So Mayer (Club Des Femmes, Raising Films) and director of Birds’ Eye View Melanie Iredale, together with the audience about Maja’s body of work and their ongoing exploration of political alternatives and personal ‘otherness.’
