COMPANY PROFILE
Birds Eye View is a registered charity, number 1105226
Limited Company number 4851498

DIRECTOR: RACHEL MILLWARD
rachel@birds-eye-view.co.uk

Rachel Millward is the director of Birds Eye View: a celebration of the cutting edge of international women's filmmaking. Motivated by the statistic that only 7% filmmakers are women, Rachel co-founded Birds Eye View as a touring short film event in 2002, and has since led the organisation to become the high profile national arts charity it is today. Rachel produces and directs the Birds Eye View Film Festival – a 10 day showcase of the best features, documentaries and short films from women filmmakers around the world, with training events, special cross-arts commissions, live events and an innovation strand, taking place in London each March. Rachel also heads up all company development: from regional touring events and educational programmes to innovative new projects designed to take the Birds Eye View brand - and with it the best women filmmaking talent - to the widest possible audience.

Rachel graduated in Theology from Oxford University in 1999, and then took postgraduate studies at the African Gender Institute at the University of Cape Town. Before focussing solely on Birds Eye View she worked as a researcher for independent television & radio production companies.

Rachel has written for the New Statesman, the Financial Times Magazine and the Guardian on the subjects of women in film and media representation of people with disabilities. She regularly writes for the Guardian Arts Blog about women filmmakers. Rachel was nominated a “world changing woman” in the Guardian, August 2006.

PROJECT MANAGER: ROSIE STRANG
rosiestrang@birds-eye-view.co.uk

Rosie graduated with an Arts and Events Management degree from The Arts Institute at Bournemouth in 2003. With a history of involvement in the more unusual and often ground breaking arts events, from corporate to community, BEV's mission  and ambitious projects provide s her with all the adventure and rollercoaster style living she's accustomed to.

Rosie's passion for film started early with cinema visits with Dad. Since then she has extended her studies into film production, as well as attending key events such as the Venice Film Festival. Project Manager for Birds Eye View Festival, she undertakes a vast variety of challenging tasks simultaneously to ensure that all events are delivered beautifully and professionally packaged.

PROGRAMMER: FIONA FLETCHER
fiona@birds-eye-view.co.uk

Fiona is a film freelancer. She has worked for Birds Eye View since 2006 and delights in being a member of the programming team. She got interested in film through the usual route – attraction to dark rooms, stories, pictures and Mulvey.

Fiona wants to continue to seek and support the best work by women directors and take forward the word of BEV.
