This tale of identity and survival explores life on the streets of New York City for one singular young woman.   Masked in tattoos and armed with an indomitable spirit, homeless mother Lucky Torres has forged a path all her own.  Filmed over five years this unflinching account explores life on the margins of society, documenting challenges, longing and dreams, all met with Lucky’s fierce resilience.

Director Laura Checkoway is a Brooklyn-based journalist-turned filmmaker who has worked for Rolling Stone, Vibe Magazine and Village Voice. Lucky is her debut feature and was pegged as one of IndieWire’s ’10 Films You Must See’.
