Please join Birds Eye View for a special screening of Letters From Baghdad at Curzon Soho on Thursday 27th April, followed by a panel discussion…
Gertrude Lowthian Bell, sometimes called “the female Lawrence of Arabia”, was a British adventurer, archaeologist and political powerhouse who helped shape the modern Middle East after World War I. Voiced and executive produced by Tilda Swinton, Letters From Baghdad chronicles Bell’s journey into the uncharted Arabian desert and all-male halls of colonial power with never-seen-before archival footage of the region shot a century ago. Directed by Sabine Krayenbühl and Zeva Oelbaum, this documentary takes us into a past that is eerily current.
The screening takes place on Thursday 27th April at 6.25pm and will be followed by a panel discussion hosted by BEV’s own Mia Bays, who co-produced the film. Check out a trailer below and book your tickets here.
Letters From Baghdad is being released in UK cinemas by Verve Pictures.
