Preview: Light Years at Regent Street Cinema

Join us on Thursday 29 September at the beautiful Regent Street Cinema for a very special preview of Light Years, the first feature from BAFTA award-winning filmmaker and photographer Esther May Campbell. Hailed as “an enticingly sensuous, heat-haze drama” by Variety and “a feature of fragile beauty” at the BFI London Film Festival (where it was unveiled last year), this poetic and startling story also boasts the acting debut of acclaimed singer-songwriter Beth Orton…

One hot summer’s day, Rose (newcomer Zamira Fuller) longs to see her mum (Beth Orton) but nobody will take her. Her father, struggling to cope, disappears to work. Her sister waits to meet a boy on the local golf course and her brother is preoccupied at home communing with spirits online. Taking destiny into her own hands, Rose sets off alone deep into England’s forgotten edge lands. This odyssey provokes her disconnected, fractured siblings and parents into a poignant reunion to face their challenges together.

The screening takes place on Thursday 29 September at 7.30pm and will be followed by a director Q&A hosted by BEV’s own Mia Bays. Check out a clip below and book your tickets here. You can also like and follow the film on Facebook and Twitter.
