Mustang Preview Event, Thursday 5th May

On Thursday 5th May,  Birds Eye View teams up with the Bechdel Test Fest and Curzon Cinemas for a special preview event of Anatolia set, sisterhood drama MUSTANG directed by Deniz Gamze Ergüven and co-written by Alice Winocour. MUSTANG is released on Friday 13th May by Curzon Artificial Eye.

It’s the beginning of the summer. In a village in the north of Turkey, Lale and her four sisters come home from school, innocently playing with boys. The supposed debauchery of their games causes a scandal with unintended consequences.

The family home slowly turns into a prison, classes on housework and cooking replace school, and marriages begin to be arranged. The five sisters, driven by the same desire for freedom, fight back against the limits imposed on them.

Q&A screening: Following a special preview, Mia Bays (Oscar-winning Producer and Birds Eye View Director) hosts an audience discussion following up on themes and aspects of the film. Anna Smith (film critic and Chair of the Critics’ Circle Film Section) and Simran Hans (freelance writer and Producer of the Bechdel Test Fest) lead the discussion, with audience participation and debate encouraged.

Thursday 5 May 6.15pm, Curzon Soho.

Tickets £15.00 / £12.50 for Curzon Members. Snap them up here
