The pitch is an art, a science and an industry requirement. Whether writer, producer, or director, as a filmmaker you must know how to best articulate your story, and the reasons why others should enable you to tell it. Sound terrifying? Bring your pitch along and use this session to test both your ideas and your pitching techniques on UK film industry decision-makers and in a uniquely supportive environment. In small groups, attendees will each get five minutes to work their magic on a panel featuring Laura MacDonald (Creative Director, filmaka.com) and Emily Leo (Development Executive, Capitol Films). Followed by drinks and informal networking.

Laura Macdonald began her career in New York as a film journalist. She profiled filmmakers and covered festivals worldwide for a variety of publications. After moving to London, she graduated into developmental and production roles in feature films, but continued to write and do presenting jobs as well. She recently covered the British Independent Film Awards for Canon and Tiscali.

Laura has worked alongside a diverse selection of filmmakers, such as Director Martha Fiennes (Chromophobia, Onegin) and Producer Norma Heyman (Mrs Henderson Presents, Dangerous Liaisons) on a variety of features in differing stages of development, production and post. She is currently Creative Director at Filmaka.

Emily Leo previously worked in production and development at Feel Films,
before moving to Sales Agent and Financier Capitol Films. Emily is the
first filter for project submissions for consideration for sales and
finance. She assesses projects based on script, budget level, financial
and creative attachments, and the pitch.
