With Mabel Normand, Mack Sennett, Ford Sterling, Roscoe ‘Fatty’ Arbuckle. Mabel finds work as an actress in a film studio in this wonderfully self-reflexive short.

 

 

Sally Phillips

Sally Phillips is one of Britain 's most celebrated comedy actresses.  As well as starring in Smack the Pony , she has appeared in many other comedy series and films, including her roles as Sophie in I'm Alan Partridge and Shazza in the Bridget Jones films.

Jean Hasse

Jean Hasse composes for films, videos, special events and the concert hall and teaches Composition at the University of Bristol. Her chamber orchestra score to accompany Murnau's Faust (1926) was premiered in
October 2007, in Bristol and London.

Jane Gardiner

Jane Gardner is a silent movie pianist, composer and teacher based in Edinburgh, who holds a PhD in Composition from Goldsmiths College. Her solo piano performances to silent film include Buster Keaton's 'The Navigator' and 'Steamboat Bill Junior', Harold Lloyd's 'Safety Last!' and Lon Chaney's 'He Who gets Slapped'. Her concert hall works have been widely performed by ensembles such as the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Edinburgh Contemporary Arts Trust and Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
