About Sound & Silents
BEV tours throughout the year bringing a range of events to cities and Festivals in the UK and further afield.
Birds Eye View first took to the road way back in 2003, taking short films by emerging women directors to ten cities across the UK, with the tour reported in Elle, Harpers, Dazed & Confused and The Guardian. The tour was launched at the then National Film Theatre (BFI Southbank) by Juliet Stevenson and Meera Syal.
Since then we have kept a strong touring element to our annual programme, including more outings at regional cinemas, plus music, arts and other film festivals both nationally and internationally. BEV's current focus is on reviving classic silent films by pioneering women filmmakers, by commissioning unique new scores by cutting-edge contemporary female musicians. We call it Sounds & Silents.
Sound & Silents is our pioneering programme of groundbreaking women-made silent films accompanied by specially commissioned live scores by cutting edge female musicians. Premiered in our annual festival, the commissions tour widely across top regional cinemas and regularly play music festivals from Latitude to Big Chill.
